Kohima DC asks press to keep accounts of poll printing matters

Kohima: Kohima Deputy Commissioner (DC) W Honje Konyak has instructed all the printing press owners to maintain accounts of the election expenditure and printing material of the elections.

In an official release, Mr Konyak said to maintain correct Election Expenditure Account and to conduct free and fair assembly election 2013 as provided in Section 127A,Representation of the People Act 1951,the printing presses,shall not print election pamphlet or poster, other than copying it by hand, for electioneering.

The release said the declaration must be attached with the identity of the publisher duly signed and attested by two persons to whom he is personally known, is delivered to the printer in duplicate.

That the document being printed bears its face name and address of the printer.

Within reasonable period of printing,1 sample copy of the document with the copy of the declaration of the publisher’s identity should be submitted to the District Election Officer in prescribed Performa.

He also said that hand-bill must be in printing and placard or poster only include the date, time, place and other particulars of an election meeting or routine instructions to election agents or workers shall not be mentioned in above specifications.

Any person found guilty shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both. (UNI)
