Complaint monitoring cell

The District Election Officer, West Jaintia Hills has informed that the election general control room cum complaint monitoring cell has been set up at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Jowai at room no. 9. Any complaints or queries with regards to electoral issues about the coming general elections and free operation of Model Code of Conduct may be made through the control room or call 1950 or 0364-220711.

Polio immunization

The director of health services (MCH and FW), Meghalaya has informed that an intensified pulse polio immunization drive will be conducted from January 21 onwards at the nearest pulse polio booth for children below 5 years of age.

Marathon

The Seng Samla Lachaumiere will hold a marathon and dancing competition on January 19 for the residents of the locality. The marathon titled “Run Lachaumiere Run” and it will be flagged off at 7 am. The winners will be awarded cash prizes. The dancing competition which is scheduled at 5 pm will be held at the NSCA, basketball ground. The dancing completion is divided into various age groups and winners will be awarded cash prizes.

Notice

One Binod Marbaniang (40) a resident of Lower Mawprem was admitted to the Civil Hospital on December 12, 2012 had passed away on January 14. Concerned relatives are directed to collect the body from the morgue of the hospital immediately or within three days, failing of which the body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.

NEHU Examinations

The controller of examination, North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) has informed that with the announcement of the election dates to the Meghalaya State Legislature, on February 23, the revised UG examination time tables have been hosted in NEHU website at www.nehu.ac.in.

Raffle draw

The raffle draw organised by the SANKER charitable trust will be held on January 19 on the premises of SANKER at Mawroh at 3pm. The lucky winners of a Mahindra Bolero, Maruti Alto and Royal Enfield motorcycle besides 10 consolation prizes will be declared at this function. Free psychiatry consultation will be available from 10am to 2pm.

The East Khasi Hills district administration has re-scheduled the date for the march of people with thousands of lights known as ‘Nights of a 1000 lights’ from January 22 to January 24 at 4pm to mark the preparation for the National Voters’ Day in Shillong to be held on January 25.

Dry day

The Ri Bhoi and the West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has declared January 26 as dry day in the entire district, on account of Republic Day celebrations. All IMFL licensed premises (Wholesale & retail sale), Bars, Canteen, Country Spirit shops including out-still shall remain closed on that day.
