Guv seeks clarification on Lokayukta Bill

SHILLONG: Governor RS Mooshahary has sought a clarification from the State Government on the hurriedly passed Lokayukta Bill before giving his assent to it.

According to sources, the Governor returned the Bill for the new Government to incorporate certain provisions aimed at strengthening the Bill which was passed on December 14 last amid protest from anti-graft organizations. Sources added that only after getting the views the Governor will give his assent to the Bill.

Earlier, many NGOs had urged the Governor not to give assent to the Bill citing many defects.
