NONGSTOIN: Congress candidate from Nongstoin constituency, Dr Advisor Pariong, has clarified on the allegations leveled against him in a section of the media on Wednesday where he was accused by the KSU Mawthadraishan Circle of diverting schemes from Pariong to Nongstoin constituency.
In a press release issued here on Wednesday, Dr Pariong admitted that he had provided an ambulance to an association in Nongstoin from the SWRP Scheme 2010-11 at an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh, but maintained that the ambulance was not only meant for the people of Nongstoin but for the entire West Khasi Hills district with Nongstoin as the district headquarter.
He also said that the scheme had been applied through proper channel and that there was no siphoning of funds.
He maintained that the allegations against him were an attempt to tarnish his image prior to the election. He also said that he had provided various schemes to the people of Pariong and to the KSU Mawthadraishan on several occasions.
