 SHILLONG: One J Shangpliang (50) was burnt to death after a fire broke out at his shop at Umblai in Madanriting in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The deceased was alone in the shop-cum-house when the incident occurred.

“The deceased was drunk at the time of the incident and the fire broke out when his shawl fell into the choola (hearth),” police said.
