Mizoram set to implement RFD

Aizawl: To increase the working efficiency of government departments and improving state government’s performance, Mizoram is all set to implement the Results Framework Document (RFD).

Mizoram personal and administrative reforms minister H Liansailova, addressing a workshop on the RFD here on Tuesday stated the scheme will be implemented from 2013- 2014 to evaluate and assess the performance of government departments.

The two-day workshop targeted at senior officials and heads of various departments was organised by the Performance Management Division of the Cabinet Secretariat in collaboration with the state government.

He added that the government is committed to good governance and it always has been its endeavour to address the unfulfilled expectations of citizens and that was why the council of ministers approved to implement the RFD.

Mizoram Chief Secretary L Tochhong, who also addressed the workshop, expressed hopes that implementation of RFD will bring improvements and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of government departments in public service.

She also said the performance appraisal report (PAR) which measures the performance of government servants needs to be further refined on the lines of RFD.

The workshop, which concluded on Wednesday, was conducted by Dr Prajapati Trivedi, secretary of Performance Division of the Cabinet Secretariat and his team of 11 officers and resource persons.

Dr Prajapati Trivdedi, who is also a renowned economist, spoke about genesis of RFD in the country its various facets and shared his experience about designing and working on RFD.

RFD was introduced by the Union Government from 2009-2010 and 79 departments are now implementing it. Twelve states, including Assam and Tripura, have successfully implemented RFD. (UNI)
