Extortionist arrested

Police arrested one Shimbor Dkhar (23) while he was extorting money from a truck (ML-05J-5092) at Mawlong village in East Khasi Hills on January 23. Police recovered cash amounting to Rs 14,150 and one register and four coupons.

Body of new-born recovered

A dead body of a new-born male baby was recovered from Polo, Shillong on January 23. Cadaver was sent to Shillong Civil Hospital for post mortem examination. Matter is under enquiry.

Theft cases

On January 20 around 2.30 am, unidentified armed miscreants numbering 5-6 robbed Rs 6,000 from the truckers and employees of a parking lot at Harinkata in North Garo Hills and also shot at one of the truck drivers who sustained injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital.

On January 19 at about 7 pm, two unidentified armed miscreants went to the house of one Ganeng Marak at Chipakram village in North Garo Hills and forcibly took away his motorcycle (ML-08C-1451).

On January 13, unknown miscreants stole one 9mm service pistol along with ten rounds of ammunition from the possessio of an Armed Branch Constable D Jana, who was under the influence of liquor, at Polo Bazaar, Shillong.

Threat case

One Fillingup Thubru, secretary of the VDP Nangbah village, lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that on January 20 at around 10 pm, one Cornerstone Thubru had threatened him with dire consequences at Nangbah village in West Jaintia Hills.

Illicit liquor seized

In a vice raid in the city police managed to seize 68170 ml of IMFL liquor and 60 litres of country-made liquor from the shop of one Sarida Kharmawlong and Tracy Janong from Demseiniong. The two women have been arrested.
