SHILLONG: Congress candidate for 18-West Shillong constituency, Mahendro Rapsang, has come down heavily on a recent statement made by his opponent and UDP candidate Paul Lyngdoh that the upcoming election in the constituency will be a fight between a leader and a trader.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Rapsang said, “There are a lot of areas in the constituency where people are still in need of a leader.”

According to Rapsang, Paul Lyngdoh who considers himself to be a leader, was only making a self proclamation of being an able leader, and has not brought any change to his previous constituency but only in his lifestyle.

Rapsang also stated that he is a trader and has been responsible for providing employment to nearly ten thousand people in the State by setting up various industries and business units.

The Congres candidate also asserted that he had made the decision to contest the election only after due consultations with the people of the constituency.
