SHILLONG: The Avenues Academy, Shillong on Saturday hosted an evening celebrating the completion of the 10th Annual Winter Workshops in Personal Development and Effective Communication for Children and Young Adults.
The production staged at the St.Mary’s College Auditorium, was titled ‘Imagine’ and featured a confluence of talent with speech choir performances of classic literary works and poems, showcasing the development of speaking skills, body language and confidence of the children graduating from the workshops. Solo and group performances of songs and dances by students of the Academy punctuated the evening, while established Artist and Performer, and Avenues Youth Icon for Performing Arts 2012, Benedict Hynniewta enthralled the crowd with his skills on the Flute.
The Managing Director of Avenues, Mark Stone Laitphlang said that this programme was conducted for the first time to ensure a confluence of various skills for the students in terms of speech, fine arts, education to learn and respect diversity.
The programme was organised with the Bethany Society for the development and grooming of the students.
During the ceremony, participants were also awarded with certificates besides a host of colorful programmes including dance andand choir act were also presented by the participants. Officials of the colleges and students were also present during the ceremony.
Founded in 2003, over 10,000 students have been trained by the Academy as Avenues celebrates a decade of existence in the year ahead.
