SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Book Sellers’ Association (AMBSA) on Tuesday made a clarification with regards to the placement of price tags or double tagging on school books by the publishers, while appealing the people to collect cash memos in case they have any doubts when they purchase books.

Seeking to avoid a repetition of last year’s protest against double price tagging on school books, the AMBSA clarified that the same was being done by the publishers and companies themselves and book sellers merely delivered the same to the public.

“We don’t want the people to be confused and take out their anger on us when they happen to received any books with double price tagging, but we advice them to collect a cash memo in case they have any doubts regarding the price so that if any problem arises they can use the same for justifying it before the Meghalaya Consumer Grievance Forum,” AMBSA general secretary ES Majaw.

He also mentioned that AMBSA along with the KSU and the FKJGP have already held several meetings with the publishers to avoid using double price tags on school books.
