Candidate withdraws

Basil Lamin, senior leader of the BJP, who had announced contesting the 2013 election from Nongkrem constituency as an Independent, has now decided to withdraw from the race and assured his support to sitting legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit who is contesting this time on an HSPDP ticket.

Clarification

Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president DD Lapang on Wednesday clarified that his recent statement where he had claimed that Nehlang Lyngdoh’s decision not to contest the February 23 election was because he had realized that an Assembly is not a coal mine, was not intended to hurt the latter’s sentiment as it was addressed generally without pin-pointing anyone.
