SHILLONG: Nongthymmai SCC inflicted a crushing 128-run victory over Langsning CC in a First Division league match of the Shillong Cricket League, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at Polo Grounds.

Nongthymmai won the toss and elected to bat first. They put up a competitive score of 173 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 35 overs.

Half-centuries from Andrew Ropmay (58 off 64 balls) and Wallambok Lyngwa (58 off 68 balls) ensured a safe score for Nongthymmai to qualify for the semifinals.

Wallam Tariang took 3-27 from six overs.

In reply, Langsning were bundled out for their lowest score of 45 all out in 19.3 overs.

Only Eugene crossed double figures. Ranjeet Rai took 3-11 off 5 overs for the winners, who secure second spot in Group B.

Malki SCC topped the points table from Group B after winning all four of their matches, while Madanryting SCC head Group A, with Megha CC second, thanks to a superior net run rate compared to Lumpyngngad SCC and Keating Road SCC.

Aparajita (Group A) have been relegated to the second division while Nongrim Hills SCC are hanging on dangerously at the bottom of Group B. They need to beat fourth-placed Venom Speed CC in Friday’s match, but even a victory will not guarantee them a place unless they also finish with a better net run rate, as three teams will then be tied on four points each.
