Agartala: Coming down heavily on the Congress, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday urged the people to cast their votes keeping in mind the works done by the Left Front government.

The Chief Minister who was campaigning for two Left Front candidates- Samar Das (Badharghat) and Raj Kumar Chowdhury (Suryamaninagar) – at Badharghat International Fair ground, recalled the horror days of the Congress-TUJS regime from 1988 to 1993.

“The Congress has always indulged in negative politics be it admission in medical college or extension work of railway or appointment of under graduate teachers,” he said.

Targeting PCC president Sudip Roy Barman for stalling the recruitment drive of under graduate teachers, Sarkar said the department has made good progress to fill up around 5000 posts.

“But the PCC president’s letter to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has almost killed the cause. In fact, the Congress doesn’t’ want unemployed youth to get jobs,” he alleged.

Giving a clarion call for conscious votes in order to install the seventh Left Front government, he said “Only Left can provide stability, peace and prosperity as it has been doing in the state for a long time.”

Sarkar also spoke about the projects undertaken by the sixth Left Front government besides criticizing the Congress for encouraging militancy in the state.

“The confessional statements of Dhanu Koloi and Dolphin Debbarma have revealed the Congress’s conspiracy against the Left Front,” he said.
