Sec Div Cricket: Tornado, Clusters win

SHILLONG: Tornado CC defeated Harisabha CC by 38 runs while Clusters CC got the better of Helping Hands by six runs in the league matches of the Second Division Shillong Cricket League at Polo Grounds on Sunday.

In the first match, Tornado CC won the toss and elected to bat first and put up a competitive 116 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Pallab top scored 27 of 33 balls while Sudeep retained figures of 3/24 of his four overs for the bowling side. In reply, Harisabha were all bundled out for a paltry 78 in 19.3 overs. Damaodar (3/12) and Manish (2/9) were the pick of the bowlers for Tornado.

In the second match, Clusters CC won the toss and elected to bat first putting up a score of 132 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Sanjib (42 of 37) and Suraj (25 of 35) led the batters’ charge. In reply, Helping Hands fell just six runs short of the target scring 127 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Deepak scored 25 of 26 balls while Vishal took three wickets.
