SHILLONG: Taking strong cognizance of the move to politicize the demand for Mairang district, the FKJGP Mairang circle has decided to opt out of the Joint Action Committee for Demand of District (JACDD).

“We are really disappointed to see some members of the joint action committee along with the political parties trying to politicize the issue,” FKJGP Mairang circle president Bobby Basaiawmoit told reporters on Monday. According to Basaiawmoit, some of the JACDD members were trying to influence the voters by hijacking the issue of demand for district. “It is shocking to see they (JACDD members) even ask the voters to vote for a particular political party to make Mairang district a reality,” the FKJGP president alleged while criticizing the political parties for taking mileage from the issue.

He, however, reiterated that FKJGP would continue to pursue this demand for the creation of Mairang district without getting involved with any political party.
