SHILLONG: The BJP State unit has requested the State Chief Electoral Officer to order re-polling in A, B, C and D polling stations in Wahiajer under Nartiang constituency in West Jaintia Hills.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer, BJP state unit president HS Syiemlieh said, “We are extremely shocked to have received the report of our candidate Veecare Nicia Lamare about the activities of Congress supporters at Nartiang constituency today.”

“The Congress supporters did not even allow the polling agents of our party to do their duty,” the letter said, while adding that the Congress supporters also destroyed the appointment forms of the BJP polling agents.

“It seemed that physical force was also used causing injury to some of our party workers,” Syiemlieh alleged.

The BJP candidate has already brought the complaints to the notice of the Returning Officer.

Earlier, on Friday, the BJP candidate had also forwarded a letter to Governor RS Mooshahary urging him to direct the district administration and the police department to provide security for her.
