Female voters outnumber men

 SHILLONG: Except for two constituencies, the turn-out of women voters was more than the male voters in all the 58 constituencies of which the highest was recorded in Khliehriat with 94.48 percent to 92.04 percent of male voters.

Sutnga Saipung and Songsak constituencies witnessed the turn-out of male voters to be more than the female voters with only 90.89 and percent 87 .09 percent to 91.51 and 88.12 percent of male voters respectively.

Out of the total number 31513 voters in the Sutnga Saipung constituency, only 28741 voters turned up and out of the 15839 male voters, 14495 casted their votes and from the total 15674 female voters, only 14246 women voters turned up.

While, in Songsak constituency, out of the total number 22236 voters, only 19484 voters turned up and out of the 11486 male voters, 10122 casted their votes and from the total 10750 female voters, only 9362 women voters turned up during the polling day.

Meanwhile, the lowest recorded constituency having the less number of women voters turning up is Nongthymmai with only 74.41 percent. Out of the total 15095 female voters in this constituency, only 11232 casted their votes.

On the other hand, the lowest recorded constituency having a least turn out of male voters is North Shillong with only 66.71 percent. Out of the total 11888 male voters in this constituency, only 7930 turned up on the polling day.

Minus service voters, the total voters turn out in the 2013 polls is 86.88 percent with 88.46 percent female voters and 85.27 male voters. Out of the total 1502509 electors in the state, 1305439 voters turn up with 633818 male voters and 671621 female electors.
