Agartala: SStage is set for the counting of votes for the Tripura Assembly elections on February 28, polling for which was held on 14th of the month.
CEO Ashutosh Jindal told media that Returning Officers had been conveyed the latest guidelines of the Election Commission and also imparted training to the counting officials.
He said each of the 17 counting centres of the state is scheduled to have around 12 counting tables in an average with one counting supervisor, one assistant counting supervisor, one counting observer and counting agents of different political parties.
Besides, 60 counting observers, technical support from the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) had also arrived for tackling any situation related to EVM during counting, Mr Jindal stated.
While the most interior perimeter is scheduled to be guarded exclusively by the Central Para-Military Force (CPMF) personnel, the rest two would be taken care of by the state police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans.
All counting personnel, including election officials, would be granted access into the counting centres only after clearance in all three frisking stoppages.
The entire stretch of international border with Bangladesh would be sealed one day ahead of the counting process as well along with clamping 144 of CrPC.
Meanwhile, a few local media organisations have released opinion poll, which however, indicated change of power this time with a comfortable majority. (UNI)
