Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has exuded confidence that the Naga peoples front will get absolute majority to form the Government in the State for the third consecutive term.

Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the Angami Sekrenyi celebration at Touphema village, his home village under Northern Angami II in Kohima district, Mr Rio claimed though NPF has entered into a pre-poll alliance with BJP and JD(U), the party alone can get absolute majority.

He assured that since the party is in a pre-poll alliance, it would be upholding the commitment to alliance partners and added that some winnable Independent candidates are already in touch with the NPF.

Mr Rio claimed that ‘With the success of DAN-I and DAN-II Governments in the State, likeminded people are willing to join us, and we welcome it.’

Asked whether NPF would welcome Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to its fold of alliance partners, he said the party will have to consult with its pre-poll partners before taking any step.

NPF is the only regional party to have completed 10 years in office in the State and seeking to come back for a third consecutive term. (UNI)
