Live telecast of election results

SHILLONG: Citizens of Shillong can sit at home and get minute by minute information on the vote counting trend and results on Thursday as local TV channels like PCN and Ri-Khasi Channel & DDK, Shillong will provide live telecast of the entire counting process from 8 am.

DDK, Shillong will telecast live the counting of votes which will be available on Channel 7 of all the regular cable networks in Shillong.

The decision was announced after a meeting convened by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer Sanjay Goyal with heads of localities and NGOs on the need to maintain law and order during the counting day.

During the meeting, a number of vulnerable places were identified in the city where proper deployment of police force and magistrates has been made to prevent any untoward incident.

The meeting also appealed to the general public and candidates to co-operate with the arrangements made by the District administration and the Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang for smooth management of traffic and law and order.

The SP also informed that no entry has been imposed on heavy vehicles from 7 am to 7 pm on Thursday along the National Highway to ensure smooth movement of traffic.

Kharkrang informed that no vehicles would be allowed to proceed beyond the first gate at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Polo and all vehicles would be diverted to the Polo parking lot.

The meeting was attended by headmen and secretaries of different localities including the general secretary, Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong, member of WAKF Board, general secretary, Central Puja Committee besides other Government officials.
