Kohima: Tinakali Sumi, a woman journalist of Nagaland Post, an English daily published from Dimapur, was harassed, manhandled and abused Tuesday by a group of people in Toshiho Village Polling Station, where she had gone to cover the re-poll in Toshiho under Ghaspani-II Assembly Constituency under Dimapur district.

According to sources in a complaint to Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO) Dimapur, Ms Tinakali appealed to take immediate action by ‘arresting those responsible’ in the interest of justice and rule of law.

She pointed out that on reaching the village around 0800 hrs, she noticed a commotion at the gate and as she went to enquire, some people along the road shouted and prevented her from moving ahead.

Even after revealing her identity and that she was also carrying an authorised permission issued by the Election Commission (EC), she said some of them warned that they would break her hands and legs if she entered the polling station. (UNI)
