‘Need to focus on ethnic culture’

SHILLONG: As part of the Year of the Youth celebration, a painting workshop was organised by the Department of Arts and Culture on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, Director of Indian Council of Cultural Research (ICCR) N Munish Singh stressed on the need to focus on the regions’ ethnic culture and tradition while adding that, “Our rich heritage and culture should be highlighted in the paintings as it is colourful.”

Over 30 students from various schools in the city participated in the painting workshop and they will be guided by artists from the State, Benedict Hynniewta, Careen J Langstieh and Teibor Mawlong.
