Central team visit AP flood-hit district

Itanagar: A two-member central team of the union finance Ministry visited the worst hit flood-ravaged Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh to access the damage caused by flood and landslides during the last monsoon.

The team, comprising Joint Secretary Dr Prafulla Kerketta and deputy director Deena Nath, along with state officials including Disaster Management Secretary Kapa Kholie, made an extensive tour of the worst-hit circles including Kibitho, Walong and Hawai during the last three-days, official sources said here Tuesday.

The team visited the Haliapani hydel project to ascertain the magnitude of damage.

It was targetted to be commissioned in December last but unfortunately, the last flashflood and landslides completely washed away its civil works portion building.

The Arunachal government had declared Anjaw as the worst flood hit district of the state and its deputy commissioner D Kamduk presented a comprehensive flood damage report to the central team. (PTI)
