SHILLONG: The FKJGP has extended its hearty congratulation to the newly-formed Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and also representatives in the opposition while expecting clean and transparent governance and development in all spheres.

As expected by the people who voted the representatives to power, FKJGP president Joe Marwein said the Government should go as per the manifestoes and eradicate poverty while bringing about development in all spheres.

Putting forth their new sets of demands before the Government, Marwein asked the government to implement the Inner Line Permit to curb influx, to strengthen the Lokayukta bill, to revoke the definition of Forest which was hurriedly passed by the previous government without having much debates on the particular issue at the assembly sessions and to respect the decision of the Supreme Court which suggested that the meaning of forest should be in accordance with that given in the dictionary stating that the bill passed previously will pave the way for rampant cutting of trees and destruction of the environment.
