SHILLONG: The Opposition parties in the State have, for once, got the better of the Congress-led coalition partners.
The opposition parties consisting of the UDP, the NPP and Independents (including GNC and NESDP) have already christened themselves as the Meghalaya People’s Front (MPF) on Thursday, even as the Congress-led coalition is yet to decide on a name for itself.
Informing this here on Thursday, UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said that the name of the alliance has been approved by all the opposition partners.
When asked if they have received any feelers from the HSPDP on whether they were joining the opposition alliance, Lyngdoh said that they were yet to receive any response from the HSPDP in this regard. “I have been informed that they are going to meet on Monday to discuss the issue,” Lyngdoh added.
However, HSPDP president Hoping Stone Lyngdoh has ruled out joining the MPF.
