SHILLONG: The Chief Electoral Officer, P Naik, held a meeting with all the deputy commissioners of the State here on Friday to discuss how the election was conducted in each district.

The meeting felt that though the poll was peaceful, the cause of concern was the mal functioning of EVMs during the polling day on February 23.

An official source said that the drawbacks in the election, including the use of old EVMs, were discussed to take corrective measures in future. The matters related to seizure of money during the election were also discussed.

Allegations of tampering of EVMs

The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged tampering of EVMs at Ziksak polling station under Salmanpara Constituency in South West Garo Hills. (Details on P-3)
