SHILLONG: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has demanded the Chief Electoral Officer to immediately get the CBI to investigate the alleged tampering of EVMs at certain polling stations of the State while alleging that there is involvement of certain high ranking Police officials.
Citing a few incidences, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that the CSWO has received a complaint that in the Salmanpara Constituency in South West Garo Hills at a polling station at Ziksak, some of the voters found that their votes are missing, as the candidate they voted for secured only 1 vote from that particular polling Station. She also said that there are various complaints from Rongsakhona
in West Garo Hills whereby votes given to a candidate were never counted to his account.
“Some people from Pynursla had also complained that they wanted immediate electoral reforms from the EVM to the Ballot paper”, Kharshiing said adding that the CSWO felt that this is a matter of great concern and immediate action should be taken.
Demanding immediate handing over the case to the CBI, the CSWO said that the CEO Meghalaya should immediately get the CBI to investigate this serious anomaly and the case should not be handed over to the Police.
“We strongly suspect that there is foul play and that EVM’s were most probably tampered”, Kharshiing said while urging all voters of the State who feel that they have strangely lost their votes should immediately swear an affidavit mentioning their epic No and their names and Constituency and mention whom they had voted and immediately sent the complaint and the affidavit to the Election Commissioner of India, Nirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi-110001, along with a copy to the Chief Justice of India, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, as this is a Constitutional fraud.
