RBYF members assaulted

NONGPOH: Three members of the Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) were severely assaulted by miscreants numbering around 15 at Umran Niangbyrnai, Parila in Ri Bhoi at around 3 pm on Sunday.

The injured NGO members identified as Deny Wahlang (25), Kyntiewlang Lakhiat (30) and Victor Marbaniang (27) were rushed to the Civil Hospital,

Shillong for treatment.

Victor received serious injuries on his ears and other body parts while Kyntiewlang received severe leg injuries after they were hit by iron rods.

Sources said that the incident took place when the three RBYF members went to Umran Niangbyrnai for the papers of non-tribal labourers working at a constructing site there.

On receiving the information Police from Umsning Outpost rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, the central body of the RBYF condemned the ‘inhumanely behavior’ of the miscrerants who attacked its members. No arrests had been made till the filing of this report.
