BSF director reviews border security scenario

SHILLONG: Consequent to his taking over and in order to review the Security scenario on the International border of Meghalaya, BSF Director General Subhash Joshi paid a visit to the areas of Meghalaya Frontier BSF.

During his visit, the Director General visited Dawki and Pyrdwah and reviewed the domination plan of border guarding on the International border besides reviewing security scenario along the international border

While addressing the Jawans, he exhorted them to maintain utmost vigil on the border and to ensure security of the border and the border population.

He was also of the view that the Force personnel should be tough and strict in dealing with smugglers and other anti-national elements.

However, he made it clear that BSF personnel should be humane and must extend all help to win their hearts and minds while dealing with the border population

While appreciating the efforts taken by the Meghalaya Frontier to outreach the border population by undertaking various Civic Action Programmes, the DG BSF has declared 2013 as Year of BSF Jawans and asked them to focus on welfare of the jawans and to improve their living conditions on the border outposts.

It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya Frontier of Border Security Force looks after Border Management of 443 km of International Border with the Bangladesh and altogether nine BSF Battalions are deployed in the area of Meghalaya sector.
