Manarchak power project on the right track

Agartala: Of the total 28 Over Dimensional Cargos (ODCs), altogether 15 ODC consignments were taken to the proposed Manarchak power plant in Gomati district, official sources confirmed here on Wednesday.

Five ODCs are on way from Teliamura to Manarchak while one stationed at Sonicherra in Dharmanagar and eight ODCs are stationed at Badarpur.

NEEPCO sources said one steam turbine generator weighing 82 tonne are expected to reach here by tomorrow and it will take two/three days to take it to the Manarchak project site.

For ODCs which reached at Teliamura include Gas Turbine weighting 98 tonne, Generator Assembly weighing 65 tonne, 76 tonne Transformer and 46-tonne Condenser.

“All the ODCs stationed at Teliamura are expected to start journey for Manarchak tomorrow”, said a top NEEPCO official here on Wednesday.

The biggest consignment- Gas Turbine weighing 162 tonne is stationed at Assam’s Badarpur area, he said.

To transport the heavy equipments for the 101 MW power project, as many as 18 by-passes have been constructed from Karimganj to Manarchak.

As per the target, the Gas Turbine is supposed to be installed at the project site by July 2013 while October 2013 has been fixed of installing the Steam Turbine.

“We are hoping to commission the project by October 2013”, said the official.

To achieve the target, the NEEPCO authority has already completed civil construction work at Manarchak and machinery erection works are in full swing.

“If everything falls in place, the Manarchak project will be fully operational by October, 2013”, he added.

The state government has already inked an agreement to buy 101 MW power to be produced from the Manarchak project.

The ONGC had also assured to supply require gas to run the 101 MW power project.
