The student has been identified as Kartik Mishra (23), a resident of Kolkata.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang said that the victim’s colleagues who went there are being questioned.

“We are still investigating into the matter,” he said.

Sources from the IIM, Shillong, said that altogether 18 boys had gone to the spot for trekking when the victim slipped and this happened probably because he was exhausted as they had to trek for almost 45 minutes.
