NONGSTOIN: Students in Mawshynrut and its adjoining areas having exams are facing a tough time preparing amidst frequent power disruptions which reach 15-20 times in a single day.

Students depending on electricity especially during night time for their studies have been reduced to tears. Class X student D Nongsiang was almost in tears while expressing her problems. “How am I going to study and revise with these frequent disruptions,” she said.

In this regard the Khasi Student Union Mawshynrut Circle has demanded the authority of MeECL to look into the erratic power supply in and around the areas of Mawshynrut.

Sranly Rongrin, President of the KSU Mawshynrut Circle has demand the MeECL to pay attention to the problem faced by the students of the areas in connection with the irregularity of power supply.

“The power supply disruptions occur at least 10-15 times a day for long hours. Even if the power supply is available, the MeECL has not been able to give sufficient light which remains either dim or twinkling” Rongrin said as he warned the authority with dire-consequences if they failed to rectify the electrical faults immediately.
