SHILLONG: Less than a month after a fire broke out at the Third Secretariat building, housing the District Transport Office, a fire broke out in the house of East Khasi Hills District Transport Officer Chamberlin Lyngdoh at Lumrumnong, Mawpat on Tuesday afternoon.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang informed that the house was lent out on rent and no one was present in the house at the time of the incident.

Police have sought teams from the Forensic department to investigate how the fire broke out in the highly secured concrete building.

Meanwhile, the SP informed that there was no connection between the two fire incidents that have occurred in a span of less than a month.

Several documents and receipt books were reportedly destroyed in the fire.
