SHILLONG: Manipur and Tripura played out a 1-1 draw in a match of the Dr T Ao Memorial Football Tournament, which was played at the JN Stadium, Polo, on Tuesday.

Both teams showed excel-lent control of the ball and created a lot of chances, but the excellent performance by both goalkeepers denied the teams to claim more than a goal apiece.

The first half ended goalless, but after the break, Manipur began to dominate and their efforts paid off when T Raju’s long throw was headed home by Md Sohail in the 62nd minute.

It was in the 75th minute that a beautiful cross from the left flank saw Sukanta Jamatia volley home the equaliser for Tripura.

The two teams are joint second in Group B, behind Mizoram and ahead of Sikkim.
