SABUDA: Strange but true, the EMRI popularly known as ‘108 Service’ under the funding of the NRHM has shied away from discharging its duties of transporting sick and ill people from villages under the disputed Block-II areas.

This was divulged by Sabuda Rangbah Shnong, B Sohtun, in a meeting organised by CSWO (Hujon) on Wednesday.

Sohtun said that when they called 108 for transportation of sick people from their areas the personnel attending the call would tell them, “Sorry we cannot come to your village as you do not belong to Meghalaya but from Assam.”

Adding more woes to their sufferings, the Rangbah Shnong said when they visit the Mawlasnai PHC they are told that there is no allocation of medicines by the Meghalaya Government for them.

The NGO leaders, who attended the meeting, expressed concern over the issues and demanded immediate action from the State Government

The meeting also resolved to demand coverage of the villages from Block II under Mawlasnai PHC as to ensure continued medical services to the people.
