Duler (Goa): Two late goals in the injury time helped Sporting Clube de Goa beat Salgacoar 3-1 in their I-League match, played at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa here on Wednesday.

Augustin Fernandes gave Salgaocar the lead in the 38th minute before Juan Francisco Gacia Pena restored parity for Sporting in the 61st minute.

But two late goals in the stoppage time by substitute Victorino Fernandes and Kalu Ogba saw Sporting collect full points. Sporting have 26 points from 20 matches, while Salgaocar remained on 20 points from 20 matches.

Randeep Singh showed a lot of enterprise on the flank for Salgaocar, as he tried to feed his strikers with long crosses and Salgaocar finally tasted success in the 38th minute.

Randeep Singh’s flag-kick saw the ball land at the feet of Augustin Fernandes inside the box, who took a shot which saw the ball take deflection off the body of Kalu before entering the back of the net.

Salgaocar received a setback in the 61st minute when their keeper Karanjit Singh received a direct red card after tripping Victorino Fernandes inside the box after he was fed by Kalu.

The resultant penalty was converted by Juan Francisco Gracia Pena to have Sporting find the equaliser.

A few minutes latter, referee Kurien was again in action as he gave marching orders to Josimar of Salgaocar and Joyner of Sporting as they were caught in an off-the-ball incident.

Sporting substitute Stephene Barreto’s cross was headed on target by Kalu, but Rahul Kumar tried to prevent the ball crossing the goal line before Sporting’s Victorino Fernandes slotted in the first minute of the injury time.

Later, in the fifth minute of injury time, Kalu shot past keeper Pawan Kumar to put Sporting 3-1 up after receiving a pass. (PTI)
