NONGSTOIN: The South West Khasi Hills District Arts and Culture Society, supported by the Directorate of Arts and Culture, will host the ‘IONA’ festival at Madan Risim, Nongumer village on Friday.

The event, aimed at promoting the culture and aesthetics of the region, will commence with a traditional dance and will showcase traditional apparels with the indigenous fashion sequences designed by Arif Mukhim, Suman Lyngdoh and Nicole. The Colours of the North East designed by Yana Ngoba will also be on display during the day-long programme.

Performances by top local bands like Wild Tears along with traditional songs and folk dance of the Khasis, Garos and the Hajongs will be the among the attractions. A special presentation from Ananda de-Capricon will add colour to the Festival.

Besides there will also be skit performance by Sanriti Nongsiej, the finalist of Meghalaya Dancing Star and a rendition of modern Khasi songs by Rana Kharkongor.
