SHILLONG: The magisterial probe report into the attack on Williamnagar jail, that left two jail staff dead on February 2, was submitted to the Government on Friday last.

Informing this here, an official source said that the content of the report is yet to be known. Suspected ANVC(B) cadres had entered the Williamnagar jail last month and shot dead the assistant jailor Neil Warjri and warder SS Thabah.

The East Garo Hills district administration had ordered the magisterial inquiry into the attack to ascertain the reason that led to the incident which had exposed the laxity in jail.

The Additional District Magistrate MK Marak who headed the magisterial probe could not complete the report in the stipulated time of one month due to the Assembly elections.

As per police reports, it was a gang of ANVC(B) militants led by its commander Singbirth N Marak alias Norok who entered the jail premises and shot dead the jail staff. Norok, who was also involved in the attack on MPCC working president Deborah Marak in December last year was released on bail after he was arrested by the police.
