Inter school U-16 cricket tourney kicks off

SHILLONG: BK Bajoria HS School defeated St Nanak Secondary School by six wickets, while Ruprekha Parishad Secondary School defeated Queenie Secondary School by 74 runs in the 8th IP Das Memorial (Under 16) Inter School Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at the Cricket Grounds, Polo, on Monday.

In the first match, BK Bajoria HS School won the toss and elected to field first. St Nanak Secondary School were then bowled out for just 62 runs in 19 overs. Vikash Kumar scored 10 while Saurav Sharma took four wickets for 10 runs in four overs.

In reply, BK Bajoria polished off the required runs in in 15 overs for the loss of four wickets. Harsh Podder made 17 while Pankaj Mahato took 1-12 in four overs.

In the second match, Ruprekha Parishad Secondary School won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 135 all out in 20 overs. Rajnesh Singh made 32 while Rohit Das took 2-9 in four very economical overs.

In reply, Queenie Secondary School were bundled out for a paltry 61 in 10.2 overs. Rudolf Syiemiong scored 14, while Rahul Balmiki bagged 4-11 in three overs.

Shillong Secondary School will play St Anthony’s HS School and Laban Bengalee Boys HS School will face St Xavier’s Secondary School in the next matches.
