A group of NLFT insurgents raided Malda Kumar Para ADC village in Dhalai district on Tuesday night and kidnapped two villagers- Ms Baikyarung Tripura (27), chairman of the ADC village committee and Debendra Tripura (45), vice chairman of the village committee at gun point.

After receiving the information, Officer in Charge (OC) of Ganganagar police station along with staff rushed the spot and launched combing operation to rescue the kidnapped persons.

It is suspected that the group was behind the abduction incident.

Border villagers are angry over the role of BSF jawans. There are reports of militant movement in some borer villages of Gandacherra subdivision. In spite of the movement, the BSF jawans have not yet launch any operation against the insurgents.

Three drivers were kidnapped by NLFT insurgents from a border area near Amar Border Outpost (BOP) under Ananda Bazar police station today.

Three vehicles were found static without any driver at Pusparam located between Amar BOP and Khangthlang BOP under Anandabazar on Wednesday around 1 pm.
