Kohima: The Advisor to the Music Task Force and New and Renewable Energy, Khriehu Liezietsu has revealed the Nagaland Government’s plan to elevate the annual Hornbill National Rock Contest to the Hornbill International Rock Contest.
Addressing during the releasing an album at the Hope Centre for Excellence, Dimapur yesterday releasing a gospel album by Vizho Thakro, Mr. Khriehu said that the task force will hold a meeting in the next few days.
He stated that the meeting would plan out the steps that require to be taken to promote the rock contest on an international scale.
The Hornbill Rock Contest has been attracting bands from all parts of the country every year.
The event has seen acts of varied genres from all over the country compete for the top prize.
The winner of the contest will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 10 Lakh. This is double the amount offered in the previous events, Mr. Khriehu said adding that the Government was also working on a website solely dedicated to the promotion of Naga musicians.
Admitting that Nagaland was still lacking in music infrastructure, he pointed out that a Music Academy with state-of-the-art facility at Jotsoma was nearing completion. Khriehu said that the academy will be completed within two to three months.
He further called upon all musicians to join hands and encouraged youth to continue with their dreams. (UNI)
