NONGSTOIN: The KSU and FKJGP Mawshynrut Circle under the leadership of Arkhelos Diengngan and Sranly Rongrin apprehended around 140 illegal migrants at Riangdo.

The migrants were on their way to Shallang in five

vehicles, when members of the KSU and FKJGP stopped them. While two vehicles escaped, two Tata Sumos and a bus were halted by the student body members. None of the migrants had documents to prove their identity even as they claimed to be from Assam. These people were on their way to Shallang to work in the coal-quarries there. The apprehended people were later handed over to the local police. Earlier in the week similar checks were conducted by the KSU in Ri-Bhoi.
