JSU, KSU concerned over pathetic condition of NH-44

 JOWAI: Students’ bodies in Jaintia Hills– the Jaintia Students’ Union and the Khasi Students Union (KSU), Lumshnong Circle– have expressed concern over the deplorable condition of the Jowai-Badarpur road (NH-44), particularly the stretch from Sonapur to Malidhar (Malidor) under Narpuh Elaka.

While demanding the PWD to repair the road immediately, the both the JSU and KSU have also threatened to take drastic steps if the department failed to comply with the demand.

The KSU Lumshnong Circle president, RM Bamon said that the pathetic condition of the road has created great inconvenience not only to the people of Narpuh but also to commuters plying from other states.

A team of the JSU led by its general secretary, Emperor Bareh also visited some villages under Narpuh Elaka incluing Sunapyrdi (Sonapur), Kuliang, Apha, Umkiang and Rattacherra to take stock of the situation.

“The villagers complained fo the hardships faced by them on account of the deplorable road condition “, Bareh said.
