Youth football tournament

Shillong: Shillong Lajong FC has linked up with telecoms operators Aircel to launch a new football tournament for youngsters, the Aircel Campus Football Tournament, in the North-East, in which the winning team will take home a grand prize of Rs 2 lakh.

The tournament will feature a five-a-side format, open to males between the ages of 16 and 23.

The matches will be of 14 minutes duration and are likely to feature the best youth teams in the region.

The tournament will also have a best player award, and the person selected will get to stay and train with Shillong Lajong for one week.

The Shillong leg of the tournament will be between April 12-14 in Polo.

Players must register by April 8.

The tournament then moves to Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Assam before the final comes back to Shillong on May 18.
