KSU lauds DC’s effort in Block II

NONGPOH: The Khasi Student Union, North Khasi Hills through its president Ferdynald Kharkamni has expressed their gratitude toward Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Akash Deep Singh for taking the initiative in conducting the DC level meeting to defuse the tension at Block II area especially on the two illegal construction sites of Assam government with the Karbi Anglong DC and MDC.

It may noted that, on Wednesday the Ri Bhoi District Deputy Commissioner Akash Deep Singh along with his officials inspected the approach road of Jatalong-Umjaknieh which was destroyed by Assam and also held a DC level meeting with Karbi-Anglong DC and Chingtong Constituency MDC at Irrigation IB.

“The Student Body appreciates the effort taken by the Ri Bhoi Administration head and its official over the demands of the NGO’s of the district to take the initiative to defuse the present tension and situation at Block II especially for stalling the two construction carried by the Assam government viz, Entrance Gate and SBI Bank Branch at Sabuda”, said Kharkamni.

Kharkamni also stated that, even though in the DC level meeting which was held at Sabuda, the Assam government officials had denied the involvement of destroying the approach road of Jatalong-Umjaknieh but it was clearly notified that it was only done by the Assam police battalion, adding that, the Ri Bhoi District Administration should follow up on the assurance of the Assam government official for taking up the matter of the two construction with the higher up authority of the Assam Government.
