St Anthony’s win tight U19 cricket match

SHILLONG: St Anthony’s HS School defeated The Shillong Secondary School by a narrow margin of three runs in a league match of the 5th Babu Ondromoni Dkhar Memorial (Under-19) Inter School Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at the Cricket Grounds, Polo.

In the other match, Laban Bengalee Boys HS School had a more comfortable time by beating Garo Union School by nine wickets.

In the first match, Shillong Secondary won the toss and elected to field. St Anthony’s put up 120 runs on the board in 22.4 overs, losing all their wickets. Lakhan took 2-22.

In reply, Shillong Secondary chased well before losing in the dying moments of the match, all out for 117 in 19.4 overs. Sulabh took 4-26.

In the second match, Garo Union School won the toss and elected to bat, but were skittled out for just 50 runs in nine overs. Bijon Dey took 3-14. In reply, Laban Bengalee Boys chased down the total in 6.4 overs losing only the wicket of Bijon Dey, who scored 28 runs.

Next matches: St Edmund’s Higher Secondary vs Buddha Vidya Niketan, BK Bajoria vs St Nanak Secondary School.
