Agartala: Following command from High Court of Tripura and pressure from common people, doctors and nurses associations have called off their strike of digenetic centres, pathological clinic and private chambers Wednesday evening.
In a release six organisations of health personnel stated that they had withdrawn the strike with the appeal of Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty to restore normalcy in the health service.
High Court yesterday had made a strong view against the strike of digenetic centres, pathological clinic and private chambers began on Monday last demanding release of five medical students when a bail petition of the accused doctors were moved by their counsel.
Justice Subhasish Talapatra directed, “First ask the physicians to restore the healthcare service in the state and then I will hear their bail petition.
What the physicians are doing is nothing but an attempt to blackmail the administration”. He viewed that the doctors had declared war against the poorer sections of the state and “we are keeping close watch over the situation and if the situation arises we will take necessary steps”.
Before High Court proceeding starts, the local people in different parts of the state issued notice to all the private health concerns yesterday morning that unless they open up the clinics and health centres, these would be closed for ever.
While welcoming the direction of High Court, Tripura Working Journalists Association (TWJA) who is the main victim of criminal atrocities of the medical students and intern doctors stated that health minister Chakraborty fell prey into the doctors’ politics, which reflected his partiality to the community badly.
TWJA leader Nabendu Bhattacharjee alleged with the adverse view of High Court, resentment of the commoners and protest of media community, doctors’ associations had moved to health minister and sought his intervention to pave the way to ensure their back off in a respectable way and they did not even informed about the High Court’s direction to the minister.
He however, pointed out that the agitation of the journalists would be continued until health service in Tripura gets a pro-people facelift and ensures proper training to the medical students besides, exemplary punishment to the accused and due compensation for damage of cameras of the journalists.
