SHILLONG: The State Police on Thursday arrested two KSU members who are the co-accused in the murder of a non-local labourer in Mawiong in November last year.

The two co-accused were identified as KSU education secretary Patrick Cecil Thangkhiew and Damayan Skhemiew, member of the KSU Mawiong unit.

East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang on Friday said the duo was evading arrest in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a labourer. Soon after the incident, police had arrested KSU Mawiong unit vice president Banker Nongkseh alias Heprit, KSU Nongkwar unit finance secretary Anthony Warbah alias Bahhep and a driver T Marngar, in connection with the case.

It may be mentioned that five KSU members had assaulted three construction workers after they failed to produce valid documents of their citizenship.

Out of the three non-local labourers, Prasanta Deka from Dhubri, Assam, died on the spot while one Dikanto Bonia was seriously injured and admitted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.

According to Kharkrang, the two co-accused have been remanded in ten-day police custody.
