TURA: Joining the Garo Students’ Union in their demand for upgradation of Dadenggre Sub-Division into a district, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Dadenggre Circle expressed its support with the demand of the Students’ Union.

FKJGP said that they appreciated the demand being made by the GSU, Western Zone (North) Dadenggre and its Regional Unit Phulbari and that the Federation deemed their demand to be a genuine and legitimate one.

Also stating that during the time of upgrading Ampati and Resubelpara, the Sub-Division of Dadenggre might have been left out by the Government for reasons best known to them but this time they are hoping the Government will upgrade Dadenggre Sub-Division too.

“We understand that all things can’t be fulfilled at once but now that the creation of the other districts is complete, we expect the MUA-II to upgrade Dadenggre Sub-Division into a full fledged District” stated Balsan M Marak, Asst General Secretary of FKJGP, Dadenggre Circle.

The Federation asserted, it is only right that Dadenggre Sub-Division which covers more area than Ampati or Resubelpara be upgraded into a district.

“It is common knowledge that Dadenggre Sub-Division is one of the oldest Sub-Divisions with six LA constituencies falling under it. One can just imagine the population of that and the crucial need for it to be upgraded into a district” stated Marak.
