SHILLONG: MPPC president DD Lapang hosted a grand function at Hotel Pinewood, Shillong to felicitate Wansuk Syiem, the newly elected Member of Parliament to the Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya.
The program was attended by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, State Planning chairman S C Marak, former Lok Sabha PR Kyndiah and former Rajya Sabha O L Nongtdu, Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh among other candidates.
Syiem was congratulated for her victory, and also for being the first lady MP from the State to be elected unopposed. She has the qualities of a good leader and the Party is confident that she will do well as a Parliamentarian.
Having been associated with the Party for more than three decades and also having held some very important positions such as a member of the National Commission for Women, Vice President, All India Mahila Congress and Chairperson of the Social Welfare Board, Meghalaya among many others.
